Alyeska at a Glance

We live in Alaska for endless summer days, beautiful mountains that sparkle in the sunshine, wildflowers and an infinite amount of green trees. Alaska is so alive right now; everyone is rushing out to partake in all the activities dreamt about during winter. It is a great time to be dwelling in the Last Frontier.

One of the activities we’ve been waiting for is downhill biking. Alyeska Bike Park is now opened! It operates June 8-Sept. 9, Friday – Sunday, Holiday Mondays from noon to six. This park is Alaska’s only lift-accessed downhill bike park. It features a variety of downhill trails for all ability levels. It has a mix of roads, single-track and man-made features. Riders can load their bikes onto Bear Cub Quad and Ted’s Express. Glacier Bowl Express will be open later this summer. It is serious fun for the entire family. You must be 8-years-old to ride, and helmets are required.

There are several different bike camps that should be experienced this summer. Alyeska Resort Mountain Bike School offers multiple Downhill Mountain Bike Skills Camp, in 3 different sessions throughout the summer. These exciting camps could be the best summer fun your 10 -18-year-old has ever had. Several weekends through the summer, your kids will spend the day with like-minded riders while being overseen and guided by Alyeska Resort’s professionally certified mountain bike coaches. Our coaches will teach your kids how to make the most of the Alyeska Resort Bike Park. The 2018 Skills Camp Sessions will be June 22-23, July 13-14, and August 10-11.

At Sitzmark Bar & Grill June 16th, the sticky and sweet Super Saturated Sugar Strings will bring their high-energy, harmonious blend of piano, violin, cello, guitar, and odd percussion, creating the sound of a sweet and funky foot-stomping symphony. Based out of Anchorage, they have shared the stage with many international acts including Deadly Gentlemen, Builders and the Butchers, Nathaniel Martin and Trampled by Turtles. This show is free.

Sitzmark is bringing a brand new band to the stage. The dynamic band KALO will be performing Top 40 and R&B on June 23rd. This show is also free, and Sitzmark will be providing free concerts all summer long.

There is nothing better than an Alaskan summer. Get out and enjoy the hiking, the biking and the music. We hope to see you in the park or at the shows.
