January 20th — Franklin D. Roosevelt is sworn-in for an unprecedented (and never to be repeated) 4th term as U.S. President. — 1945

January 21st — The Wilderness Society is founded by conservationists. — 1935

January 22nd — After a rare snowstorm in Memphis, TN, Elvis Presley and his entourage have some fun and build a snowman outside of his Graceland mansion. — 1966

January 23rd — The U.S. Senate confirmed Alaska’s Walter J. Hickel as the Secretary of the Interior by a vote of 73 to 16. — 1969

January 24th — The official birthday of beer in a can. Following the U.S. prohibition, Newark, New Jersey’s G. Krueger Brewing Co. sells the first beers in a can in Richmond, VA, releasing, ‘Krueger’s Finest Beer’ and ‘Krueger’s Cream Ale.’ — 1935

January 25th — Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell form the Oriental Telephone Company, licensed to sell phones to various countries in the Eastern Hemisphere. — 1881
On the same day in 1915, Bell in NY calls his assistant, Thomas Watson 3,400 miles away in San Francisco, credited as the first transcontinental phone call.
