The fall season brings beginnings and endings. It’s time to say goodbye to free summer concerts and hello to familiar favorites like Oktoberfest.

Autumn brings something new to the top of the mountain. Challenge Alaska and Alyeska Resort are coming together to support a great cause and present an incredible evening of wine pairing. A specialized, four-course dinner with wine pairings featuring six wines from around the world will be poured Sept. 14 for the Wines of the World event at Seven Glaciers. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and dinner is at 7:00 p.m. sharp.

This delightful dinner will benefit Challenge Alaska an organization dedicated to providing sports and recreational opportunities to the disabled since 1980. Enjoy spectacular wine for a great cause. Room packages and dinner only reservations are available.

Autumn just wouldn’t be the same without a festive atmosphere celebrating the many attributes of beer! Oktoberfest is two full weekends of live music, souvenir steins and merrymaking at the Sitzmark. Get your polka on with great local oompah bands, grab a stein and sample authentic Bavarian delicacies. This year Oktoberfest will be on September 21-22, 28-29. Entry is free and food will be available until 10 p.m. The menu includes delights such as Sauerbraten, Pork Schnitzel, Mac & Cheese, Braised Red Cabbage, German Potato Salad and a Jumbo Pickle on a Stick.

Many people choose Halloween as their favorite holiday and are always looking for a spooky and festive way to celebrate. Alyeska answers this haunted search with an epic Halloween costume contest and concert. On Oct. 26-27, the Sitzmark welcomes the Young Dubliners, the Celtic rockers, to the stage. Doors open at 9 p.m., with the concert starting at 10 p.m. This event is a 21 and over. Buy your tickets online before the show, in the past, these concerts have always sold out. Do not forget about the costume contest before the show.

In a few days, it will be time to book the Fall Tram Special, where you can stay the night and ride for free. This package runs Sept. 16-Oct. 6. Receive free tram tickets for the whole family (2 adults and up to 3 kids) when you book a night at Hotel Alyeska. Enjoy all the amenities the Resort has to offer, including the saltwater pool, hot tub and fitness center, plus easy access to hiking and biking trails in the great Alaska outdoors.

Enjoy the sunshine where ever and whenever you find it. Soak in this delightful fall weather and make room on your calendar for some hearty fall fun at Alyeska.
