Ready for the biggest bash of the year? Are you wondering about all the details for the 42nd Annual Spring Carnival? Here is a brief summary of the 42nd Spring Carnival taking place April 12-14.

Friday, April 12
The first big event is the 8th Annual Costume Party taking place at the Sitzmark. Registration is from 6-7 p.m., and the contest starts at 7 p.m. If you come in original costumes and register for the party, you will receive a free concert ticket to the Friday night show with the Mother Hips and discounted entry into Slush Cup on Saturday. Arrive in the same costume the next day for the Slush Cup, and don’t forget your flair and style! This event is 21 and over with free admission.

Saturday, April 13
Register for all Spring Carnival events including the remaining 25 spots for the Slush Cup, Idiots Swim, Dummy Downhill and XTRATUF Tug o’War from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. The final round of Slush Cup pick will be at 2 p.m. Hopeful participants must convince the judges they are worthy of the remaining 25 spots in Slush Cup. You must be in full costume.

The Idiot Swim Across is at 3 p.m. Some brave souls will swim across the pond for the entertainment of all. This event is a free, but pre-registration is required.

The Slush Cup starts at 4 p.m. Fifty competitors will ski or ride down the mountain and try to make it across the 90-foot pond for a chance to win a 2018-19 season pass! There is a $50 entry fee. Potential participants must register by 1 p.m., and selections will take place at 1:30 p.m. Go to Alyeska Resort’s website to fill out the registration form.

Sunday, April 14
The Downhill Mountain Bike Race starts at 10 a.m. Bikers will race down Main Street trail. A $10 entry is required but it is free with lift ticket/season pass. Register from 8-9 a.m. at the Tramway Cafe. Tram uploads begin at 9 a.m. The Dummy Down hill is at 12 p.m. Create your own “dummy” to send flying down a ski trail. Great prizes for top finishing dummies! This is a free event but pre-registration is required. Drop your dummy off by 11 a.m. by the Info Tent. Parade of Dummies will be on display near the Bear Cub Quad.

XTRATUF Tug-of-War, a consistent favorite, starts at 2 p.m. Teams of five compete in a tug-of-war across the pond. Last team standing wins a pair of XTRATUF’s for each member of the team. This event is free, but pre-registration is required. And there you go, Spring Carnival in a nutshell. Don’t forget to get your tickets for Mother Hips at the Sitzmark on April 11-13. We will see you in the sunshine and on the slopes.
