Now that Turnagain Times has passed into the annals of history, it’s appropriate to look back at its 20-year past after its final issue was published Nov. 3, 2017. The following excerpt is from Turnagain Times Vol. 1, No. 5, published Aug. 6, 1998, and written by Ken Osuna.

The Draft lease for the proposed Girdwood golf course is out for public review, but most people who spoke at a July 27 public hearing in Girdwood wanted to talk about whether a golf course should be built in the lower part in the Girdwood Valley, as well as the specifics of the lease. About 130 people turned out for the meeting at the Alyeska Prince Hotel; A joint bank of the Heritage Land Bank Advisory Commission and the Girdwood Board of Supervisors. Almost 25 people spoke and offered a variety of questions and comments for the two boards and representatives of the golf course developer, Glacier Valley Development Corporation.
