October 2018 marks the first time one of our programs has been sponsored and fully supported. LEGO League’s 2018-19 season has generous locals footing the bill for the months ahead. Two 2018 Lego League teams (and their families) can now launch into the year without the additional strain of fundraising, thanks to financial support from Girdwood’s Jeff and Sharon Samuels.

The relatively new and popular activity, Lego League, has drawn significant interest over the last year. Each Girdwood team has eight members, ages 9 and 10, and 10 and 11 respectively. Mike Edgington, Janice Crocker, and Amanda Locke coach the 9 and 10 year olds. The older team is comprised of all returning members from last year, with coaches Matt Green and David Hall.

In order to compete and participate in tournaments this season, the teams need ready money alongside plenty of practice, time, and dedication. Lego Leaguers will be able to purchase yearly kits, pay registration fees, tournament costs, purchase team t-shirts, and cover all program supplies. Thank you to the Samuels for facilitating and providing this opportunity for local kids. Cheer on our Girdwood teams: The Anchorage Qualifier tournament is Dec. 1st.

Other sponsorships are available through FVCS: Nordic Ski Club, Cross Country Running, After School Arts Program, and more can be achieved through generous and specific donations from goal-oriented sponsors. All your donations stay local and are used to support programs for kids in our community. For more information, please contact cmcdermott@fourvalleys.org.
