Four Valleys Community School: Opportunities to Play and Volunteer!

Four Valleys Community School Adult Gym Sports
Adults of Girdwood! Come inside and play in the great gym at the Girdwood K-8 School in the evenings. The line-up of pick-up sports offered this fall is basketball on Mon., pickleball on Tue., soccer on Wed., and volleyball on Thur. These activities are held from 7-9 p.m. when school is in session. Drop-in cost is $5 or sign-up for the full series for a discounted rate at www.fourvalleys.org.

Indoor Soccer Starts Oct. 5
Kids indoor soccer league starts soon! Practice one hour a week and participate in one-hour games on Saturdays. The cost $60 for the 6-week program, and there are two Friday night games. Financial Aid and Scholarships are available!

Middle School Volleyball Clinics
Clinics are skill work only, no game play. Each session will have a different focus. Clinics cost $20 per session and will be offered during upcoming Parent/Teacher Conference days. More information available at www.fourvalleys.org.

Cross Country Running Wrap-Up
This fall our Cross Country running programs had 75 participants. On Mondays, our busiest days, the athletes were running an average of two miles each for a whopping total of 150 cumulative miles! That all adds up to a lot of kids getting exercise and a lot of trail use. Thanks to volunteer Head Coaches Mel Stiassny (Grades 1-6) and Bre Donovon (Kindergarten).

Ski & Sports Swap–Save The Date: Saturday, Oct. 12
Looking for some new gear for this season? Feeling cramped with skis and other sporting equipment? Visit the FVCS Ski & Sports Swap for all your selling and purchasing gear-needs! This event is a fundraiser for Four Valleys Community School, and a great annual community gathering.

SELL YOUR GEAR: Pick up sales tags and control sheets from the FVCS office (available now) and Girdwood Post Office (available beginning Friday, September 20th) or the day of the sale (come early). Please review our Swap Pricing Tips at www.fourvalleys.org.

NEW for 2019–DONATE YOUR GEAR 100%! Do you have gear to get rid of but do not want to tag it, log it on the control sheet, and bring it to the Swap on Oct. 12? Let us do that for you! Donate your gear to Four Valleys Community School and we will sell it and retain 100% of the profits. Drop it off at the FVCS office, located inside the Girdwood K-8 School, any Mon. to Thur. after 3 p.m. We will gladly accept your gear and sell it for a 100% donation to benefit FVCS community education programs!

SKI & SPORTS SWAP VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Each year FVCS benefits from the help of 100 volunteers. Our volunteers do everything from gear intake, sorting and answering gear questions, to helping with checkout. More than just a gear swap, this is a great community event for Girdwood. Come on out and contribute! Volunteers get to shop early–before the Swap opens to the general public–and we feed you too!

VOLUNTEER SIGN UP ONLINE: A variety of positions and shifts are available. Volunteers can work the full day, or just sign up for one shift. Sign up early to get your first preference for times, etc. Look for the sign-up on-line at www.fourvalleys.org.
