Emily Maxwell Bio

Emily Maxwell

Associate Editor

Emily was born and raised in Iowa City, Iowa and received dual degrees in Journalism and Spanish with additional degree work in Literary Translation, all at the University of Iowa. Even when she’s not searching for adventure, it always seems to find her. She’s run with bulls, jumped out of planes and worked as a long-haul trucker and an art model. After surviving a severe burn injury, she changed gears and moved to Alaska in January 2016. Her proudest accomplishment to date is running the Iditarod in 2018 and 2019.

Emily spends her free time exploring Alaska with her dogs.
