Amy Newman

Staff Writer

I’m a born and bred California girl, but Alaska has been home for the past 16 years. Since I first arrived in Alaska in 2001, I’ve had the good fortune to work in jobs that have allowed me to explore this beautiful state, from the tiny Southeast Alaska village of Tenakee Springs (where my only option for bathing was the communal hot springs), to frigid, moon-drenched Barrow in January, where I walked the frozen Arctic Ocean, and everywhere in between. I love talking to Alaskans and sharing their stories with readers. You’ll usually find me exploring with my husband, David, and our daughters, Julia and Gabrielle.
