Fall is the season of change. In this spirit, Alyeska Resort has spiced up its usual fall schedule to include a new, exciting event sure to bring the foodie out in all of us: The Bite of the Chugach. Alyeska Resort has teamed up with Chugach Living Magazine and Visit Anchorage to produce the culinary event of the year. It will be held at The Hotel Alyeska October 6–8, 2017.

The event will feature chef’s from around Southcentral Alaska showcasing their specialties and will be a celebration of Alaska’s food scene and culinary culture with a focus on sustainability and locally sourced Alaskan ingredients.

“This kind of event has never been done at the Resort and we’re very excited to work with Chugach Living on this,” describes Chef Jason Porter, Alyeska’s Executive Chef and Director of Food and Beverage. “For many people, this time of year is a little bit slower so it’s the perfect time to take a trip out to Girdwood, eat some great food and relax. The events we have are lining up to be super fun and amazingly tasty. I’m looking forward to the food truck party.”

The event has an informal educational component with an emphasis on pairing unique food creations with specific wine/beverage combinations. “We have planned a very exciting event with a variety of elements to spice up fall. After attending many of these types of events in the lower 48, we combined several concepts to create a medium for food and wine enthusiasts to come together with the restaurant trade and interact on a more personal level” explained Eric Fullerton, Director of Marketing for Alyeska Resort. There are over 15 food and beverage vendors participating in the weekend.

“I’m honored by the outpouring of support from Alyeska Resort, Visit Anchorage and participating restaurants like Orso, Fat Ptarmigan, and Turnagain Arm BBQ Pit, just to name a few. These world-class Southcentral Alaskan chefs’ ingenious culinary skills presented all in the same place, at the same time, it’s truly going to be a one of a kind experience,” said John Ragozzino, Publisher of Chugach Living Magazine.

Events during this weekend include Bubbles & Bacon, Food Truck Party, Gourmet Slide Competition, Breakfast & Bloody Mary Party. A special all-inclusive “VIP Hotel Package” has been created that includes entrance to all the events, tram tickets and a special hotel rate. Locals will be able to purchase a limited number of individual event tickets and the Food Truck Party on Saturday is open to the public.
