Celebrate Fall with Oktoberfest at Alyeska

Fall in Alaska always entails a transition period between the long days of summer and what seems to be the painstakingly long wait for ski season. However, just because the seasons are changing at Alyeska, doesn’t mean there is a shortage of activities to keep you occupied: hiking in the crisp air, enjoying a Tram ride up or down the mountain, the epic scenes of leaves changing to vibrant yellow, orange and red, and of course, the moment you realize that you are finally staring into a sky dark enough to see stars.

Fall in Alaska can be great and one way to really celebrate this time between fishing season and ski season is with the classic celebration and tradition of Oktoberfest at Alyeska Resort! Join us in the Daylodge both September 16th-17th and again on September 23rd-24th to celebrate German traditions, the changing of seasons, German food and of course, BIER! This event, spanning over two weekends, will feature authentic Bavarian fare and festivities, including a full polka band and other live music from 4 p.m.-Midnight both weekends.

Alyeska Chef Jason Porter has created a menu sure to satisfy the most intense gelüste with entrees such as saurbraten, pork schnitzel, grilled bratwurst and the ever popular beer braised schweinehaxe. Side dishes and desserts such as pan fried spaetzle, steamed dumplings and braised red cabbage will also be available. All music for this year’s Oktoberfest runs from open to close, so festival goers are never left in silence. The best part of Oktoberfest is the fact that it is an all-age, family friendly event which is FREE to all!

The first weekend of Oktoberfest will feature Chalon Rein along with Polka Dan and The Alaska Main Squeeze to show us what polka is all about. Headlining for the evening starting at 8 p.m. both nights will be Harp Daddy and The Back Country Mojo, which provide a blend of high energy rhythm and rocking blues. During the second weekend of Oktoberfest, come hear the traditional tunes of Alaska Blaskapelle and the Polka Chips to get your lederhosen movin’ on the dance floor. Stay with us until 8 p.m. when we will feature Anchorage’s upcoming band, Honey and Blood, who are coming to get the crowd on their feet with their mix of classic rock, funk, R&B, and some good ol’ Motown vibes.

Treat yourself to a fall getaway by booking the Oktoberfest Package, starting at $179 for both weekends. This package includes a one-night stay, 2 beer steins (with beer), tram tickets and souvenir t-shirts. Book online at AlyeskaResort.com or give reservations a call at (907) 754-2111.
