Alyeska at a Glance
By Stephanie Drescher
As the beautiful light starts to come back and filter into the valley, souls are revived and attention turns to new things to do in the new year.
The Spa at The Hotel Alyeska has a new Pilates instructor, Kristina Ann, who will be leading the Saturday classes starting at 10:30 am. Classes are held in the beautiful Summit Room on the 8th floor of the hotel. White linen curtains are slid back to reveal a beautiful view of the snow-covered mountain range. It truly is a beautiful space. Expect a sweaty, challenging practice that is suitable for both total beginners and experienced practitioners. Come work out with us. Mats are provided.
After your muscles are limber and warm, it is time to get onto the mountain. There is no shame in learning new things, no matter what your age. In fact, it’s extremely brave. Have you always wanted to learn to ski or snowboard? Alyeska Resort applauds this desire and an attractive package has been created to support beginner snowboarders and skiers.
The 3 for $129 package is a special offer to get kids and adults out on the snow and taking lessons from the resort’s professional team of instructors. The lessons are designed for those new to skiing and snowboarding. All three lessons must be used by the same individual. Lessons come with lower mountain tickets and rentals are valid on the days of the lessons. For more information, call the Mountain Learning Center (907) 754-2280 or peruse the website.
We also want to make sure that the community is aware of the Alyeska Choice Pass offered at the resort. The Choice Pass saves you 20% off regular priced lift tickets and you get directly to the lifts (skipping the ticket office), your daily rate will always be discounted and the Choice Pass can also be used for just half day or night skiing.
This option is perfect for enthusiastic skiers and riders who want the convenience of direct-to-lift access without the full commitment of a Season Pass. The Choice Pass can also be tied to a credit card and used to add Powder Cache or Resort Charges. Resort Charge allows you to use your pass as a form of payment at any Resort outlet, which makes for a rather convenient and fluid day at the resort.
There are lots of activities at The Hotel Alyeska and Alyeska Resort this January to get your heart pumping and your muscles engaged.
