The activities and snowflakes are swirling around Alyeska. In the month of March, there continues to be more great bands to talk about as well as some all time favorite events making appearances.

Coming up March 15-17, the Sitz stage will belongs to North Mississippi Allstars. This band is the product of a special time in modern Mississippi country blues. Brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson have soaked up the music of their father, Memphis legend Jim Dickinson, and discovered their own sound while playing and shaking it down in juke joints with their blues ancestors.

You will not want to miss Thursday, the first night, because Alyeska Resort is partnering with Alaska Airlines to offer a very special prize: 80,000 airline miles. The miles will be given to a lucky winner and all you have to do is buy a concert ticket and enter the drawing.

Not to be out done, California Kind is bringing the heat and a special guest. Chris Robinson will be appearing with this uninhibited California Jam Band. Saturday night is already sold out. The rest of the nights are primed to follow suit. Make sure you get your spot and grab your tickets in advance.

March will watch the Sitzmark stage go out with a bang as Lucero, the whiskey-soaked bohemians from Memphis, takes the stage. During their last appearance, several of their nights sold out as well. They will be playing March 29-31.

On the same Thursday as the first Lucero show, come early to be a part of the Ducks Unlimited Night at the Sitz, March 29 at 6 p.m. There is no cost to attend and there will be several valuable raffles to enter and you can be a part of supporting waterfowl and wetland conservation. Want to ski for free on this Thursday? Wear your camo and your duck call to the ticket office and get a BOGO lift ticket. Check Alyeska’s Facebook Event Page for more information.

Speaking of wildlife, one thing we can all agree on is that Alaskans love the heavy head and velvet-soft profile of the moose. So come bring your artistic abilities and enshrine one on canvas at the second Paint Nite at the Sitz on March 28 at 7 p.m. Enjoy your favorite adult beverage and get step-by-step instructions. With a little bit of direction and a little liquid courage, you can be Picasso too.

One of the best beverages to drink when it’s chilly outside is sake. The Hotel Alyeska’s sushi restaurant, Sakura Asian Bistro, will be participating in Sake Week. Join other sake enthusiasts March 27 at 6:45 p.m. for a five-course, educational sake dinner with pairings hand-selected by the outstanding Sakura Chef Team, La Bodega and our own Alyeska’s sommelier. March is a big month at Alyeska with a little something for each person and snow for everyone.
