Letter to the Editor

To the Editor,

A big thank you to long-time Girdwood local Randy Brandon.

He stopped what he was doing last Wednesday (plowing snow in the rain) to figure out how to close our van’s sliding door, which we had just driven with wide open from Cooper Landing.

After a heart-pounding and quite scenic 360-degree view while we were spinning on unseen Sterling HWY slush, we came to rest in the snowbank, with no damage and no other traffic, thankfully.

Except that the sliding door had opened and jammed in the back position.

After an hour of fruitless effort, I drove with it on to Girdwood.

Randy scratched his head, got out his crowbar and Torx bits and beat the crap out of our car ad got it sliding again!

His technical skills are only exceeded by his well-known photographic wizardry.

After only half an hour, we were able to continue on to Anchorage to make our appointments that day.

Hats off to a Girdwood resident that selflessly made our day.

May good karma work its way back to you, friend.

Ron Levy,
Soldotna
