The aerial tramway at Alyeska Resort is open for summer operations. The tramway gives access to the upper mountain to tens of thousands of tourists and Alaska locals throughout the summer season.
Summer operation hours will be from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily until mid-October. The opening of the aerial tram will also give access to the resort’s award winning, mountain-top dining at Seven Glaciers, which is slated to open for daily summer operations with operating hours of 5 – 10 p.m. The Bore Tide Deli will remain closed until Thursday, May 26 due to a scheduled remodel of the facilities.
With the tram operational for the summer season, Alyeska Resort and the Hotel Alyeska are offering a Free Family Tram package for those who want to get away. Starting at just $149, families get a one night stay and up to five free tram tickets to use during their stay. This package is available from May 19 – June 9.
“This time of year is always exciting,” explains Brian Burnett, Acting Ski Area General Manager. “We welcome summer and all things that come along with it, including the start-up of our tram operations. The tram is a great way for visitors and locals alike to gain access to the upper mountain, whether it be for sight-seeing, hiking or dining at Seven Glaciers. The opening of the tram is always a kick-off to the summer season in Girdwood.”
The Alyeska Aerial Tramway leaves from the hotel base area and gives riders a five to seven minute scenic ride to an elevation of 2,300 feet above sea level. Once at the upper tram, terminal visitors can check out the Roundhouse Museum, hiking trails (when conditions allow), dining at Seven Glaciers or Bore Tide Deli, or simply take in the views of the Turnagain Arm, Chugach Mountains, hanging glaciers and the Girdwood Valley.
