Where the Action is at FVCS in October

Special to the Glacier City Gazette

October brings new opportunity for our community. This time of year, Four Valleys is able to access the Girdwood School Gym on weekday evenings for adult and kids programming, while the indoor track is the delight on top for spectating and walking. At your own pace, hop on the indoor track to stay dry and clean this month for speedwalking, walk-running, or plain running.

Girdwood kids love indoor soccer! The six-week program begins Oct. 5 and runs through Nov 11. Practices are one hour each week with games on Saturdays. Join coach Erin and volunteer parents to kick off our fall indoor programs. Grades 1-3 and 4-6 have two groups respectively with differing time slots weekday options. Financial Aid and scholarships are available.

Adults: Each night in the gym has choices just for you. Monday is pickup soccer from 7-9 p.m. Fast-paced games for ages 15 and up make the evening exercise intense and fun. Drop in for just $5.

Get tummy-central on Tuesday night with Pilates. Briana teaches this class through December from 7-8 p.m. Basketball players and fans, come play with a friendly competitive spirit, plus get a great workout Wednesday nights from 7-9 p.m. Coed basketball and soccer also has a flat rate now through December 13.

Thursday is the sweet sport with a sour name: Pickleball! Come play a round-robin style game on your next available Thur. night with friends or family from 7-9 p.m. Finally, the popular Jr. High and High School Gym Games takes over once again on Friday evenings. There’s always something healthy going on and welcoming you in.

Little ones: The morning session’s Romp N Snore Tuesdays are back for preschool aged children. The gym is all yours for supervised exercise and activities. From 9:30-11a.m. through Jan. 16 while school is in session, bring your own trikes, trucks, scooters, etcetera and supervise your child. Last week’s considerable showing had empty chariots and several bikes overtaking the bike rack outside the school entrance. Inside, abundant and compact energy filled up the school gym.

FVCS Fall Session has more to mention with crafts, fall and Halloween-themed events, and upcoming activities. See our online registration and fun photos of the here and now on our Facebook page.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for two important events you won’t want to miss: Mayor’s Charity Ball Oct. 14 and Sports Swap Nov. 4.
