Swap Without the Drive

Perhaps your winter gear emerged from covered places and is hanging front and center by hooks, dry and stiff, eager for your limbs to climb in and play. Or your household pile of too-small gear is needing attention, as the list of essentials lengthens for your growing kids. The Sports Swap on Saturday is well worth the time to buy or sell, browse, and see your community.
Our 360-degree view in October brought picturesque moments that stuck: Mountains laced in white, stars and northern lights shining brightly over Girdwood, mercury clearly dipping under that magic degree, and the crisp feel of being outdoors. Winter films began showing in Southcentral last week as well. Snowflakes fell outside our doors and blanketed the valleys, brightening the increasing darkness. Now, the gear swaps are beginning and we are getting pumped for winter!
For anyone that likes to carve more time in their day, keeping it local sounds great and safe. Save time and gas, not to mention time in the car. Without hitting the highway, the destination is Alyeska Daylodge. A bikeable or walking distance to shop, the Daylodge is too close to pass up. (Although scoring deals could require a loaded trip home.) Either way, a more world-friendly option awaits; see mountain riding friends, catch up on summer and fall outings, and scheme adventures for the upcoming season.
The annual All Sports Swap is Sat. Nov. 4 from 12-4 p.m. Upgrade outgrown or once loved gear. Come join the fun! Grab gear tags at the Post Office now to be ready when you arrive at the door.
Thank you to Alyeska Resort for making this annual fundraiser for Four Valleys Community School possible. Thank you also to all volunteers. Are you able to volunteer? Contact FVCS as soon as possible to get your coveted volunteer job with shopping perks.
